The golden prophecy is officially over. After a year-long quest in 2019 to be all draped in gold, The Undisputed Era‘s first championship has been taken away because Keith Lee is your new NXT North American Champion.
In the main event of NXT TV right before Worlds Collide, it was Roderick Strong defending his NXT North American Championship against the leader of the “Limitless Leegion”. Lee earned this opportunity two weeks ago when he beat Cameron Grimes, Damian Priest, and Dominik Dijakovic for the opportunity to be the number one contender. Believing that it was Lee’s time was not difficult for fans, as they have been “Basking in his Glory” for months now. For him, it was a matter of getting the chance to get there which is what he did.
The match began with Roderick Strong focusing on the ankle of Lee. It was the ankle that The Undisputed Era injured last week at the beginning of the show. Anything to give Roddy the advantage. Early on, Lee seemingly managed to defend himself perfectly and not let Strong attack the ankle. But with Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, and Adam Cole surrounding the ring, it was hard to keep focus on everyone. Ultimately, the numbers advantage worked in their favor as Fish kicked out the ankle later in the match to only put more focus. Coming down to the close, Lee was locked in an ankle lock and had to drag his way to the rope to survive. As you can tell now, that is exactly what he did.
He managed to get himself to the rope and this is when the remaining members of The Undisputed Era believed they could help. Lee fought them off but was met with a Rocket Kick and it seemed to be over. That was not the case as Lee kicked out. Strong began to load up again but the adrenaline in “The Limitless One” hit, allowing him to load the now-former champ up for the Ground Zero to win his first championship in NXT.
The tides are changing on the black and yellow brand as the first championship loss of The Undisputed Era has happened. Some may say Imperium got into their heads. Either way, they will have to do all in their power to stop themselves from going off the deep end. But this is not about them, it is about the new NXT North American Champion, Keith Lee.
