NXT UK threw out another banger this week, with one of the best main events in the show’s history between an independent wrestling stalwart and a former United Kingdom Champion, one of the NXT UK originals finally taking the opportunities he feels he has been deserving of since the beginning of the brand, and a dominant performance courtesy of our NXT UK Women’s Champion against her recent rival.

Biggest Strongest Boi

Tyler Bate was in singles action in the evening’s main event as he faced off against Kassius Ohno in what turned out to be quite the match between the pair. The main story throughout this one was Ohno using his size advantage to wear down the British Strong Style member, utilising his signature cravates to weaken The Big Strong Boi. For the most part, it was a fairly even contest, with Tyler able to fight back after evading a diving moonsault from the larger Ohno. No matter what The Wrestling Genius threw at Bate, he wasn’t going to give in, which was shown when he scooped Ohno off his feet for a Tyler Driver ’97 to secure another huge victory. With yet another big win coming his way, surely Tyler Bate is once again in consideration for WALTER‘s WWE United Kingdom Championship. The Ring General may be a bit busy right now, but when the whole Gallus situation is over, we can only hope to see a repeat of Tyler and WALTER’s NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff bout.

Joseph Conners Is Worthy

Following on from their double pinfall a few weeks ago, Ligero and Travis Banks once again collided this week as they went toe to toe in what was slowly becoming another epic encounter between the pair. There were a few callbacks to their original outing, with several double pins very nearly being counted but eventually, Ligero seemed to be on the cusp of winning only to be shoved into the ring post behind the referee’s back at the hands of Joseph Conners. The assault allowed The Kiwi Buzzsaw to gain the three count after a Slice of Heaven, however, Conners wasn’t finished. The Righteous Killer continued his onslaught on both competitors, before claiming he was worthy of being included on the card for TakeOver events. Seeing as the opportunities didn’t seem to be going his way, it looks as if Joseph Conners has decided to take matters into his own hands to show everyone just how worthy he truly is.

Establishing Dominance

Fresh off an appearance on Wednesday night’s episode of NXT, the reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray came out on top as she defeated recent adversary Xia Brookside. Xia tried her absolute best to get the better of The Queen of Insanity on this occasion, using her athleticism to escape a few holds and pinning predicaments. In the end though, it would be KLR who walked away victorious, using her signature striking offence to weakn Brookside, before downing her with a Gory Bomb for the three count. So, now who will step up in an attempt to pry the NXT UK Women’s Championship away from the first lady of The Filthy Generation?

What Else?

In addition to all of that, we were witness to part two of the closer look vignette with Piper Niven, Alexander Wolfe confronted Johnny Saint (who was with Sid Scala and William Regal), and was granted a match against Ilja Dragunov on next week’s NXT UK, and we saw another eery promo package from the soon to be debuting Ridge Holland.
