One of the rising new stars of the past year on the US indie circuit is heading to IMPACT Wrestling. On Saturday night at IMPACT All Glory, after competing in a match presented by Sami Callihan‘s Wrestling Revolver, Ace Romero was offered – and signed to – an IMPACT Wrestling contract by Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore in the middle of the ring.

Ace Romero got his start in 2013 in the Maine indie circuit, after being trained by NXT Superstar Oney Lorcan. He started out with Independent Wrestling Entertainment (IWE) in Brewer, Maine, before becoming a regular and breakout star with Limitless Wrestling in 2015. The super heavyweight went national quickly, appearing for Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), Beyond Wrestling, California’s Empire Wrestling Federation (EWF) and more.

In the summer of 2018, Ace Romero became internet famous, when a pounce performed against Anthony Gaines in Buffalo’s Empire State Wrestling (ESW) went viral. That fall, his national exposure increased when he joined Major League Wrestling (MLW), debuting at November’s MLW Fightland in Chicago.

Romero remained a regular with MLW on weekly television, while continued to work more and more indies, such as AAW, IWA Mid South, House of Hardcore, and Wrestling Revolver. He’s competed in all manners of match-ups, from hardcore to brawling, to hoss superfights, facing the varied likes of Marko Stunt, Eddie Kingston, Jacob Fatu, Jordynne Grace, MJF, and Trevor Lee (NXT’s Cameron Grimes).

His career another boost earlier this year, when he was selected to be a part of the first Casino Battle Royale for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), appearing on The Buy-In pre-show for AEW Double or Nothing. Saturday’s IMPACT All Glory was the third IMPACT promoted indie showcase event of the year, having previously competed this past March at IMPACT Wrestling & Wrestling Revolver’s Opening Day event and in June for the IMPACT & House of Hardcore Digital Destruction show.

As well as signing with IMPACT Wrestling, it was also announced that “Acey Baby” will be the fifth and final entrant in the X-Division Championship Ladder Match at Bound For Glory on Sunday night, joining Tessa Blanchard, Daga, Ace Austin, and X-Division Champion Jake Crist. The final spot was supposed to go to the winner of Desi Hit Squad‘s Rohit Raju and Sabu on Friday night’s IMPACT Wrestling, but with the match ending in a double count-out, neither man qualified, leaving the final spot open.
