The day after wXw AMBITION 11 tournament in Toronto, Germany’s Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) holds a special wXw Toronto event, featuring several of wXw’s top stars mingling with some of the other international talent (and Smash Wrestling regulars) who are in town for SummerSlam week.

Brent Banks vs. Marius Al-Ani vs. Julian Pace vs. CIMA

A huge fatal four way, as two of wXw’s regular stars face off against stars from Smash Wrestling and Oriental Wrestling Entertainment (OWE). Smash’s Brent Banks has been one of the top stars in the Southern Ontario indie scene and has recently made his PROGRESS debut in the UK. Marius Al-Ani was a tag specialist in A4 with Absolute Andy until becoming a top singles star and wXw Shotgun Champion. Julian Pace is best remembered as a former tag team champion in Cerberus with Ilja Dragunov, but is no slouch on his own. OWE and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star CIMA rounds out the four men in this match-up, which is sure to turn some heads.

Yuki Ishikawa vs. Timothy Thatcher

Two tough grizzled veterans go one on one, as Yuki Ishikawa takes on Timothy Thatcher. Ishikawa began his career in 1992 with Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi, training under Yoshiaki Fujiwara, before heading to NJPW the following year. In 1996, he started his own promotion Fighting Investigation Team BattleArts (commonly just called BattleArts), which he ran until the promotion closed in 2011. He was an early mentor and trainer for former WWE Superstar Santino Marella, who named his own wrestling school BattleArts Academy in honor of his mentor. As a freelancer, he’s worked for the likes of All Japan, Big Japan Wrestling, Pro Wrestling ZERO1 and more. Timothy Thatcher is part of Ringkampf in wXw alongside WALTER and has been one of the top shoot fighters in the world. Hard-hitting and a technical specimen, he was EVOLVE Champion and continues to set clinics around the world.

#StrongHearts (T-Hawk & El Lindaman) vs. Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) vs. The Crown (Jurn Simmons & Alexander James)

When this was originally booked, it was for the wXw World Tag Team Championship, but since then, Aussie Open has lost the titles to WALTER & Ilja Dragunov, so it’s most likely now a contendership match. Three strong teams, as OWE and AEW stars Strong Hearts (T-Hawk and El Lindmana) face off against former champs Aussie Open as well as wXw staples The Crown for a chance to get back in contention for the wXw tag team titles.

wXw Women’s Champion Amale vs. NXT UK Champion Toni Storm vs. NWA World Women’s Champion Allysin Kay

A non-title match featuring three women’s champions from around the world. French indie star Amale Winchester won the wXw Women’s Championship at Superstars of Wrestling, taking the title from Toni Storm this past June. Speaking of Storm, the NXT UK Women’s Champion will get a sense of redemption if she can pull off the victory, but with no titles on the line, she have to suffice with the win. The final entrant in the triple threat is the new NWA World Women’s Champion Allysin Kay, who continues to add gold to a trophy cabinet that includes 2x IMPACT Knockouts Champion and the Shine Championship.

wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship: Bobby Gunns (c) vs. Mike “Speedball” Bailey

Bobby Gunns has smoked his way to 150-days as the wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion since defeating Absolute Andy at 16 Carat Gold this past spring, and he’s facing one of Canada’s premier indie stars in Mike “Speedball” Bailey. Bailey is on double duty on Friday, as he challenges Kevin Bennett for the Smash Championship later that night at Smash Super Showdown VII.

Daisuke Sekimoto vs. WALTER

If Ishikawa and Thatcher didn’t rattle your bones, this one will. Daisuke Sekimoto is one of the toughest men in Japan, and the Big Japan Wrestling star is a former 4x Strong World Champion in BJW and the reigning ZERO1 World Champion. He’s facing the reigning PROGRESS Unified World Champion and NXT UK Champion WALTER, another juggernaut known for his brute power.
