The 2019 edition of the Scenic City Invitational Tournament, the pre-eminent indie tournament in the US South, is in the books and the winner is a blossoming indie star from north of the border. In a field that featured several prominent indie stars from the US indies from the Midwest, Mid Atlantic and the South, it was Canadian Daniel Makabe who walked away with the SCI Trophy.

This year has seen Makabe break out into more US indies, debuting with the likes of Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), Freelance Wrestling, and Black Label Pro, and made his SCI debut this past weekend. He defeated Tony Deppen in the first round and Slim J in the second round, to advance to the Fatal Four-Way Final, where he outlasted AC Mack, O’Shay Edwards, and “Warhorse” Jake Parnell in the finals to claim the SCI Trophy. He’s next slated to fight OWE and AEW star CIMA at the Oriental Wrestling Entertainment Toronto event August 10 during SummerSlam Week.
Just got to Nashville and found out that I’m wrestling CIMA next weekend in Toronto for @ORIENTALWRESTL1
