With sinking ratings, reportedly low morale, and talents looking to greener pastures in the ensuing new wrestling war, WWE has turned to its former adversaries for help in the coming battle. “Wrestling war” aside, WWE seems more intent on righting their own ship that entering any full-fledged battle, and in doing so have brought in former ECW boss (and current “advocate” for Brock Lesnar) Paul Heyman as the new Executive Director for Raw and former WCW head honcho Eric Bischoff as the Executive Director for SmackDown Live.
Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff Given Backstage Roles with WWE
According to WWE’s press release, “In their executive roles, Heyman and Bischoff will oversee the creative development of WWE’s flagship programming and ensure integration across all platforms and lines of business. The creation of these roles further establishes WWE’s ability to continuously reinvent its global brand while providing two distinct creative processes for its flagship shows.”
Paul Heyman has previously had experience running a WWE brand, when he was the head of SmackDown from 2002 through 2003, while Eric Bischoff assumes his first administrative position in WWE, despite being an on-air talent in multiple capacities from 2002 through 2007.
