Preview: Future Stars of Wrestling – 10th Anniversary
Nick Bockwinkel Memorial Battle Royal
Paying tribute to FSW Hall of Famer and one of the greatest singles and tag team wrestlers of all-time. Bockwinkel and his Tag partner Ray “The Crippler” Stevens held the American Wrestling Association (AWA) Tag Titles 3 times between 1972-74 and he was AWA World Heavyweight Champion from ’75-1980 when Verne Gagne won the belt back. Shogun Jones won last year and this year’s match features guys like Gabriel Gallo, Mondo Rox, Dave Mazany, Macho Mouse, Hero Lu, Exceptional and Tenacious, Santana Jackson, and Suede Thompson who has lost 14 consecutive FSW matches.
The Following (Bryce Harrison, Jakob Austin Young, Cut Throat Cody) vs Hater Nation (Leon Hater, Legacy, Sugar Brown, Kenny King)
Two of the greatest factions in Future Stars of Wrestling history square-off with ego and pride on the line. FSW Hall of Famer Bryce Harrison of The Following interrupted Leon Hater June 1st at the FSW Arena and challenged Hater Nation to a match at FSW 10. Match accepted, hands shaken, all good right? Not so much. Cut Throat Cody made a shocking return to FSW at Beers and Bodyslams June 13th when he delivered a cutter to Sugar Brown after the Bonus Boyz (w/ Clutch Kucera) victory. That certainly turned this match up a few notches and made it about a lot more than just who’s the better faction.
Heaven and Hell Match: “The Warlord of Weird” Sinn Bodhi vs “The DEMIGOD of DEATH” Funny Bone
They’ve been friends; tag team champions, and once again they’re bitter enemies. March 17th at MECCA IV Funny Bone was locked in a tight one with Nick Gage when Bodhi pushed him off the top turnbuckle after the Clown had stepped in as replacement referee earlier in the match. Gage summarily pile drove Bone through a table and it was over. Now they meet in a Heaven and Hell Match. Not sure what the stipulations are, but both guys will fight and I expect it to be one of the best matches of the evening. Things are about to get Weird.
FSW Tag Team Title: One Percent (Jorel Nelson & Royce Isaacs) vs The Soul Burners (Tomaste & Ryan Taylor)
The challengers from SoCal made their intentions clear when they returned to FSW June 1st by beating the Bonus Boyz and attacking One Percent after their hard-fought win against Pump Patrol (Curt Matthews & Jared Wayne). Now they get a shot against arguably the best team in FSW history who also hasn’t lost a match in an FSW ring this year. One Percent has been dominant, to say the least, and despite the attack should be heavy favorites to walk out belts intact.
Cash in the Case Ladder Match: Clutch Kucera vs “The Flip Artist” Matt Vandagriff vs Ice Williams vs “New York Legend” Remy Marcel vs Graves vs ???
The winner gets a shot at any FSW Title and there are three former Champions in this year’s field (Kucera, Graves, Marcel). Vandagriff and Williams have had similar opportunities this year but have been unable to get the win when it mattered. There is expected to be a sixth person for this match and with some surprises anticipated it could be almost anyone.
No Limits Title Match Triple Threat: “New Age Daredevil” Damian Drake (c) vs Nick Bugatti vs Greg Romero
This has been a great story that began last December when Drake attempted to win the No Limits belt against Owen Travers when an inadvertent chair throw by Romero cost Drake the match. All three have since used a chair on one another over the Spring and with Triple-Threat rules, you can expect the chair to play a role again. This is a very dangerous match for the No Limits Champion.
“Relentless” Douglas James vs TJ Perkins
James returned to Future Stars of Wrestling earlier this year and lost a tough one to FSW Champion Chris Bey, but since then has been on a tear. He beat Hammerstone and won the inaugural Limitless Tournament in April by putting Damian Drake to sleep to win it. If DJ wins this you can expect him to come calling for the No Limits Title at the very least. TJ Perkins may have other ideas. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion brings his high energy attack to Las Vegas and wants to close down the pizza party. Perkins and James both bring versatile attacks and fast pace offense to what should be a great match. This one is the early favorite for Match of the night.
Nevada State Title Last Man Standing Match: Sefa Fatu (c) vs Hammerstone
Future Stars of Wrestling asked the fans on Facebook which match they were most anticipating and this one was chosen by a comfortable margin and it’s easy to see why. They had the match of the night at MECCA IV and the rematch could easily be the Main Event. They’ve exchanged verbal barbs at one another over the past few months and now they settle it with a last man Standing Match. A stipulation that lends itself toward a physical war and two guys who prefer that means we can expect that Sunday night. The Problem would make a big statement with a win and The Business wants to prove despite massive success elsewhere he isn’t done in FSW yet.
FSW Heavyweight Championship: “Ultimate Finesser” Chris Bey vs Killer Kross
Kross returned to FSW March 17th and put Bey through a table. He told the Champ in no uncertain terms there was a “pecking order around here” and it clearly began with him. However, Bey took it a step further not only challenging the monster Kross, but also requesting a No Rules Match. The “Ultimate Finesser” wants to be a “Living Las Vegas Legend” and he has to beat Kross to do that. The No Rules stipulation is just as much an advantage for Bey who has put enormous pressure on himself to win this and his legacy in FSW is on the line. Will Bey become the TimeSlayer and vanquish The Tollman, or will he just be another victim to the Killer?
