The Lucha Bros became the 26th AAA Tag Team Champions by defeating The Young Bucks at tonight’s Verano De Escándalo. It seems as though the saga between the Lucha Bros and The Bucks might be over, for now. The two teams have been competing for months and months between Mexico and the United States for both All Elite Wrestling and AAA Lucha Libre. In a Mexican/lucha libre tradition, money was thrown to the ring by the fans, which signifies the fans’ absolute pleasure of the match.

At the top of the night, it looked like the Bucks had their opponents’ number when the Lucha Bros came out to cut a promo saying that they NEEDED to win the tag team titles. Konnan came out and declared both of them his “sons” then proceeded to smack Pentagon Jr., who then picked up a chair looking to smash Konnan for the disrespect. The Young Bucks would then come out to the ring and attack the Lucha Bros and take them out.

During the match, which was yet another barn-burner, to say the least, Fenix launched himself throw the ropes towards Nick Jackson and wound up flying towards the 3rd-5th row of the audience. Thankfully everyone was alright. The climax of the match came when Matt Jackson would completely take off Pentagon’s mask and the team would then hit him with the Meltzer Driver. When we thought it was over, the referee was pulled out of the ring by Fenix. With a low blow by Fenix to Matt, this wound up resulting in the Lucha Bros getting the upper hand and finishing off the Bucks for the win.

After months and months of going back and forth with each other, what’s next between the two teams? With Triplemania just around the corner, will AEW and the Bucks respond to tonight’s title change? Will there be one more match between the teams? We will find out soon enough.
