According to Lucha Central, this past Friday’s edition of AAA television on Azteca’s Azteca 7 channel drew a 3.2 rating, equalling 5.4 million viewers, giving AAA their largest TV audience on Azteca, and breaking their previous high by one million viewers. The main event of the program was the AAA World Tag Team Championship match, that saw the invading Young Bucks from All Elite Wrestling defeating The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) for the belts.
When Twitter user and lucha writer Luchablog asked when the WWE last scored close to 5.4 million viewers in the US for a program, he was met with multiple responses before finding out the answer.

That show was the Raw After Mania for WrestleMania 31, and was a mostly uneventful edition, but featured Daniel Bryan defending his Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler, Damien Mizdow vs. Stardust, AJ Lee, Naomi & Paige vs. Natalya & The Bella Twins, Rusev vs. Goldust, John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose in a United States Championship match, and The Authority (Seth Rollins, Kane & Big Show) vs. Roman Reigns, Ryback & Randy Orton. That episode averaged 5.36 million viewers on the USA Network.
While The Young Bucks appeared on WWE television in the late 2000s as extras on programs that had a larger audience in the US, as also noted by Luchablog on his Twitter after the news broke, it was most likely the largest viewing audience to ever watch a Young Bucks match.
The two tag teams are next slated to meet in a rematch for the AAA World Tag Team Championships at AEW’s Double or Nothing on May 25 in Las Vegas.
