NXT superstar Dakota Kai has confirmed via a social media post last night that she suffered a torn ACL during an NXT live event in Green Bay on Dec 7.
Despite the injuring occurring over a month ago, Kai explained that announcing the injury and subsequent surgery was delayed so that she could spend time in New Zealand with her family over the holiday season.

“I put off posting this because I wanted to focus on being home for the holidays and to be honest, I dreaded having to even mention this as I didn’t want to let any of you down. That, over everything, was and is the most heartbreaking feeling in the world.”
The severity of the injury is currently unclear but it is likely that this will mean Kai misses a significant amount of time as she rehabilitates her knee following the surgery. Normal recovery post ACL surgery is six to nine months.
“Unfortunately this will take me out for a bit… It’s going to be a tough ride, mentally and physically. I know that. The last thing I want is any sympathy… but hear me when I say this; Within my whole being, I know for sure I will be back stronger than ever. I will hit the ground, running. That’s a promise.”
