Drew Gulak Name Drops Indie Star Wheeler YUTA on 205 Live

On tonight’s episode of 205 Live, Drew Gulak and Jack Gallagher presented 205 Live GM Drew Maverick a binder each of “prospects” to consider in Maverick’s search for new talent for the WWE’s Cruiserweight division. Gallagher’s featured UK wrestlers, while Gulak’s covered the US. As Gulak departed, he patted his binder and told Maverick to “check out Wheeler YUTA in there.” While to most of the WWE Universe, it probably sounded like a name from a Monty Python sketch, to indie wrestling fans, it put a huge smile on their face. Wheeler YUTA is indeed a very real person and is a top emerging star in the US indie scene.

Wheeler YUTA began his professional wrestling career in 2015 with the AIWF Academy in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2013, before moving to Philadelphia to train at the CZW Dojo under Drew Gulak, as well as at CHIKARA‘s WrestleFactory under Mike Quackenbush, Chuck Taylor and Fire Ant. He made his debut with Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) in 2015 and was soon working for CHIKARA, EVOLVE, and All American Wrestling (AAW) the following year.

He began to gain more notice in 2017, working for Beyond Wrestling, Major League Wrestling (MLW), and Japan’s Michinoku Pro Wrestling, before absolutely breaking out as a top indie star last year, Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), Smash Wrestling, Southern Underground Pro (SUP), NOVA Pro and more to his travel log, establishing himself as one of the top high flyers in the country. He also starred in the TV series Dojo Pro on Amazon Prime.

Whether or not that was foreshadowing to the next crop of indie stars to head to the WWE or it was simply Drew Gulak have some fun with a former student, it was still a pretty fun moment.
