At today’s PROGRESS Wrestling Chapter 82: Unboxing Live show, new PROGRESS Tag Team Champions were crowned as The Swords of Essex (Will Ospreay & Paul Robinson) won the titles from The Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) in quite the surprising twist. According to live reports from the show, Robinson suffered a nasty cut on the back of his head but he still ploughed on through the opposition to end Aussie Open’s reign.

Aussie Open have been a dominant force in PROGRESS for some time now, having beaten the likes of Latin American Xchange, CCK, The 198, and Grizzled Young Veterans throughout their 91 day reign with the straps. Elsewhere, they’ve had their fair share of success when it comes to collecting to championships, seeing as they are also the reigning champs in Defiant Wrestling and ATTACK! Pro Wrestling.
This match marked The Swords of Essex’s first time teaming together in a PROGRESS ring since May 2014, which was a Tag Team Championships #1 Contenders Match against The London Riots, Project Ego, and Screw Indy Wrestling. Ospreay has been in and out of PROGRESS since 2016 due to his contractual obligations to New Japan Pro Wrestling, whereas Robinson has not long returned to being an active competitor, making his in-ring return at Chapter 76: Hello Wembley opposite Jimmy Havoc after he helped Ospreay beat Havoc at the end of August.
The tag team division right now in PROGRESS is absolutely stacked from top to bottom with plenty of established and rising duos. From The Anti-Fun Police to Do Not Resuscitate, CCK to The Grizzled Young Veterans, there’s something for everyone when it comes to tag team wrestling in PROGRESS. With a new tandem now reigning over the division, there are a whole host of new and exciting matches that can be held.
One thing to remember from this victory though is that you either live by the sword, or you die by The Swords of Essex!
