On this past Wednesday’s edition of AfterBuzz TV‘s Women’s Wrestling Weekly, Lucha Underground ring announcer Melissa Santos – who is no stranger to entering storylines – announced that she was going to be starting with IMPACT Wrestling soon, although the full capacity of her involvement was not revealed.

When asked to discuss the recent crossover of stars from Lucha Underground and IMPACT Wrestling – such as Pentagon Jr., Fenix, Johnny Mundo/Impact and Santos’ real life fiance Brian Cage – Santos stated “it looks like I’m going to be doing some things with IMPACT, I’m super excited about that.” Santos went on to explain that “it hasn’t been officially announced or anything like that, we just need to figure things out.” As for what her role would entail with IMPACT, she said “I would love to ring announce – I just don’t exactly what just yet. But I know I’m going to be involved, and it would be great.”

She also mentioned that she had tried to ring announce for Women of Wrestling (WOW) but recently lost out to Shaul Guerrero, the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero and former Smackdown General Manager Vickie Guerrero. Ironically, Shaul replaced Melissa Santos at the end of the last episode of Lucha Underground.

IMPACT Wrestling has been without a full time ring announcer since last year, when Dave Penzer left the company amidst budget cuts. Since then, they’ve used a rotating cast of local announcers for their tapings and special events. Adding a ring announcer of Santos’ caliber and profile would add to already impressive roster for the company. Prior to Penzer’s return to IMPACT in spring of 2017 (he’d left the company back in 2010), TNA/IMPACT had been using Christy Hemme and Jeremy Borash in the ring announcer position.
