When Pierre Carl Ouellet was first announced as the mystery opponent for indie superstar and German powerhouse WALTER at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 2 earlier this year, there was a collective head scratching heard around the world. For many younger fans, they had no idea who this large old dude was, and for the rest of the world, we suddenly started to Google why a former Quebecer from the WWF’s least appreciated era, The New Generation Era of the early to mid-90s, was suddenly relevant again. But once his match with WALTER was over, everyone suddenly knew who PCO was – whether they’d just found out or been reacquainted.

In the months leading up to the match, PCO began to release bizarre training videos, that showed an enraged mad man pulling off carnival-style feats of strength, all while seemingly getting himself worked up to face a man considerably younger who was a multi-time wrestling champion in promotions around the world, such as PROGRESS, wXw, and PWG. In fact, WALTER is currently the reigning PWG World Champion.

At Spring Break 2, PCO didn’t just show up for a fight, he gave WALTER – who is widely considered to be one of the toughest, hardest hitting wrestlers on the planet – a lesson in abuse. The two monsters pummelled each other, with the 50 year old PCO standing toe to toe in the ring. In a surprising result, PCO got the win over WALTER, although looking at his chest, you wouldn’t think so. And to top it off, PCO pulled off a moonsault.

French-Canadian tough guy Pierre Carl Ouellet, a 3x WWF World Tag Team Champion alongside Jacques Rougeau in The Quebecers in the early 1990s and WCW Hardcore Champion. During his 31-year career, he also wrestled for ECW, Puerto Rico’s WWC, Impact Wrestling, Montreal’s International Wrestling Syndicate (IWS) and Germany’s wXw. He retired in 2010, but in 2016 made a quiet comeback. After Spring Break 2, there’s nothing quiet about it.

A couple weeks ago, he faced “War King” Eddie Kingston in Cleveland, Ohio for AIW, and he’s got some seriously hot matches lined up in the coming weeks as well – on Friday June 1st he’s facing Matt Riddle with ICW New York at Night of Main Events, followed a night later facing off against Joey Janela himself at Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) in New Jersey at Zandig’s Tournament of Survival 3. He returns to his home stomping grounds in Montreal, Quebec on July 14 at International Wrestling Syndicate (IWS) for a rematch against his Spring Break 2 opponent, WALTER, in a No DQ Street Fight.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a journey into pain with PCO if he didn’t train for it. But instead of the uplifting training montages of Rocky films of old, we’re getting psychotic videos from a horror film by Rob Zombie.

It’s clear that Pierre Ouellet is having the time of his life with the late career resurgence, and he’s impressing people on his in-ring performances instead of living of retro nostalgia. PCO is back and he’s here to make a statement.

Now if only we could get him a match against Minoru Suzuki and/or Haku
