BREAKING: Chelsea Green Announces Departure From Impact Wrestling
The announcement confirms the reports from early December that Chelsea Green had requested her release following the last round of tapings in Ottawa, Ontario, shortly after she had won the Impact Knockouts Championship. Green worked this round of tapings in order to drop the championship belt to Allie, as well as putting over newcomer Keira Hogan in the process.
With her release following tonight’s tapings, Chelsea Green ends a two year career with Impact Wrestling almost to the date, debuting with Impact on January 7, 2016. Initially working sporadic dates, she signed full time that September, where she was renamed Laurel Van Ness and began working with Maria Kanellis‘ stable, including Allie, Sienna and “The Miracle” Michael Bennett. Following her love triangle storyline of being left at the altar by Braxton Sutter in February of last year, she became a drunken, maniacal jilted bride character, which culminated in her defeating Rosemary for the Knockouts Championship during November’s Ottawa tapings.
As Chelsea Green, the former student of Lance Storm has worked for a variety of promotions the past few years, including SHIMMER, Stardom, RISE, SHINE, Queens of Combat (QOC), and WrestleCircus. She’s currently dating WWE Superstar Zack Ryder, so whether she ends up with the WWE, either in NXT or the main roster, is still up in the air, but she is still announced for and taking indie bookings at this time. Green has worked for the WWE in the past, first in 2014 as the role of Daniel Bryan‘s therapist, Megan Miller, and then in 2015 as a contestant on the rebooted Tough Enough. With her announcement, Green joins other Impact stars EC3 and Lashley to have finished up with the company at these tapings.
