A surprise reunion of one of Germany’s top factions of the past few years occurred at today’s wXw 17th Anniversary show, following RINGKAMPF‘s WALTER and Timothy Thatcher‘s wXw Tag Team title defense at today’s show.

Following the match, the duo were met by the surprise appearance of a former RINGKAMPF member and foe who have since left Germany to be a part of the WWE Universe. After their victory, they were joined in the ring by former RINGKAMPF member Axel Dieter Jr. (who know competes in NXT on Live Events under his real name Marcel Barthel) and former NXT Tag Team Champion Alexander Wolfe (who competed in wXw as Axel Tischer).

Both men had huge careers in wXw before joining the WWE, beginning with Alexander Wolfe and his 2009 through 2015 run as Axel Tischer. In 2012, he pinned El Generico (Sami Zayn) to become the wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion, holding it for 293 days before losing it to Tommy End (Aleister Black). He’s also a former wXw Shotgun Champion. He joined NXT in 2015 and has since become a vital part of SAnitY (and their potential MVP of War Games), where he’s a former NXT Tag Team Champion. He also had runs with the German Wrestling Federation (GWF) as well.

Axel Dieter Jr. was RINGKAMPF’s leader of sorts, leading the charge and oft teaming with WALTER until he joined NXT earlier this year. Like Wolfe, he too is a former wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion, defeating Marty Scurll last year and losing to Jurn Simmons this year shortly before his departure to Orlando. Prior to his RINGKAMF run, he was a 2x wXw Tag Team champion as part of Hot And Spicy with former WWE Cruiserweight Classic competitor Da Mack.

The two appearances continue a trend of the WWE allowing some of their talent return for matches and/or appearances with former stomping grounds, such as the recent announcements of Oney Lorcan to Beyond Wrestling and Apollo Crews to Preston City Wrestling (PCW) in the UK.
