LuFisto, the 20-year legend in women’s and hardcore wrestling, announced last night she was indeed seriously injured during her match this past Saturday at Alternative Wrestling Show (AWS)‘s event Again No Presents for Christmas: Final Battle, in a tag team match between LuFisto and her Team PAWG team mate Jordynn Grace against the team of Raze & Sage Sin. While PAWG emerged victorious, according to LuFisto she was slapped during the match that resulted in her ear drums being “ruptured on the spot”. She also suffered a broken nose in two places. After several days of hearing impairment, she went to the doctor to discover the burst ear drum, and that an ear infection had set in, which will result in LuFisto missing several weeks off bookings due to an inability to fly in the current condition amongst other safety concerns.

LuFisto was scheduled to defend her SHINE Championship next week at SHINE 47: Survival, a title she’s held for 329 days now, but will now be unable to compete. No word on her replacement or the status of her championship – she actually won her title last year when Ivelisse was in a similar injury situation and had to vacate. Whether SHINE forces a vacating of the title and holds an interim match to crown a new one at SHINE 47, or waits it out until their next event, most likely in February of 2018 remains to be seen.
LuFisto is no stranger to the rough stuff – she’s been a pioneer in women’s hardcore wrestling for decades, even wandering into the brutality of men’s hardcore more than once. In CZW, she ended Kevin Steen (aka Kevin Owens) 364 day reign as the CZW Iron Man Champion and held it for 149 days herself before vacating it due to injury. She also became the first female to enter CZW’s Cage of Death, when she faced off against Zandig, Nick Gage and Lobo at CZW Cage of Death VIII in 2006, and made it to the semifinals of 2008’s CZW Best of the Best tourney. Also in 2006, she won Canada’s first death match at Strangehold Bloodstock, beating hardcore icon Necro Butcher in the finals. In 2007, she won IWA Mid South‘s Queen of the Deathmatch tournament.
She’s the current reigning SHINE and Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW) Women’s Champion, and is a former 2x nCw Femme Fatales Champion, Women Supertstars Uncensored (WSU) Champion, and International Wrestling Cartel (ICW) Champion.
We wish LuFisto a speedy recovery from her injuries and a great 2018!
