Last night, AAA broadcast their biggest PPV event of the year, Triplemania XXV, live and for free on Twitch.tv in hopes of expanding their presence in North America as Mexico’s top promotion. But during the match for the AAA Reina de Reinas (Women’s) Championship, champion Sexy Star apparently decided to take matters into her own hands and turned the match into a shoot.
During an early part of the match, Sexy Star took a chair shot and was out of the ring for what felt like an extended amount of time. When she returned, she stormed the ring and busted open one opponent, Lady Shani, and when it came to the finish, she aggressively went for an arm submission on GFW’s Rosemary, a late addition to the card, and according to PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, actually dislocated it.
“During the finishing sequence of the Reina de Reinas match at tonight’s AAA Triplemania XXV, Sexy Star legitimately injured Rosemary’s arm, popping it out of place during her armbar submission. We are told Rosemary is being checked out by doctors backstage to determine the extent of the damage.” Mike Johnson, PWInsider.com
Rosemary was literally trying to get out of it.. SS wouldn't let go. You can see the anguish on her face, as SS kept going. 🤬🤬😡 pic.twitter.com/Jml5YiDQXw
Johnson would update hours later that while the injury did occur, it would not cause any long term effects, such as loss of match time. Vampiro apparently sought down Sexy Star backstage and made her confront and apologize to Rosemary before she left the Arena, but Lady Shani was also backstage waiting for Star for her actions and things got heated.
Needless to say, as the news began to spread throughout the wrestling world, many of Rosemary’s GFW co-workers began to get riled up in defence of their Demon Assassin, with some implying that payback could be in the works.
One of the more vocal was fellow GFW star Allie, a close friend of Rosemary – the two worked Canadian indie scenes for years and their rivalry with Toronto’s Smash Wrestling is the stuff of legend.
Nobody hurts my @WeAreRosemary and gets away with it.
Just watched the clip from #TriplaManiaXXV and I am even more angry than I was last night.
If you deliberately hurt or "shoot" on someone in the ring, someone that is TRUSTING you with their body, you don't belong in our business.
That sentiment was echoed by other performers as well, including GFW’s Karen Jarrett and former Reina de Reinas Champion Taya Valkyrie, who has had her own beef with AAA of late, including Sexy Star.
DISGUSTING is just one word. We put our lives in each other's hands. So unprofessional. This is how you work yourself out of the business https://t.co/aELhRMO017
Some people are such huge marks for themselves that they'll never understand the art of the "work." Those people should never be in a ring.
It's disappointing to see a "professional" be so careless and wreckless with a fellow worker… All I can say is: KARMA. https://t.co/j892olqUJh
Whether it's dick flips or submissions, we constantly put our health in each others hands. If you violate that trust, you're not one of us.
Hot take: if you're unprofessional enough and enough of a garbage human to deliberately injure someone, GTFO. Don't need ya here. kthanksbye
Finally watching the girls match…. I'm actually fucking furious. #wtf
For an actually ass kicking. https://t.co/w8sgWF0lmG
Disregard that persons well being you arent tough… you arent a SHOOTER… You're a piece of shit and have no business in this business
Sexy Star is a Mark
Let's put this person who has trusted me with their well being in a real shooty hold. I'll surely be looked at as a legit badass right?
Unprofessionalism at it's finest, legit so pissed about this. https://t.co/6FO9Ps6gpL
We are supposed to take care of each other… In real life…. In the ring… Every day.
When ego gets in way of that.. we all lose.
Love you or hate you, we are best friends in those moments in the ring. We all have loved that anticipate us coming home healthy (1)
When you take that away from your opponent, YOU are the problem. Unprofessional doesn't cover it. You are now the worst of this business.
Having known @WeAreRosemary I will ALWAYS have her back. 💘💘
All the love for @WeAreRosemary today. A true 'professional'! ❤
I 💙 my red.. @WeAreRosemary she's a true professional.
In my time things have changed in this job for good & bad. The unprofessionalism dropping is a positive then I hear what happened last night
If we don't protect & police our business nobody will. I don't care the issue. The ring is our safe zone & issues are dealt with backstage
Dear fellow wrestling promoters : do you value the safety of your talent? Then now is the time to cancel Sexy Starr bookings from your show.
