On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, it was mentioned that former WWE Superstar John Morrison (aka Johnny Mundo in Lucha Underground) and his fiance, Taya Valkyrie, are both set to debut on GFW television at the next set of Impact tapings, currently scheduled for August 17th through the 22nd.
Both recently took part in GFW Live Events in New York – August 4th in Long Island and August 5th in Staten Island – and fans have been wondering if these Live Events were one-offs or if it was heading towards a more permanent role, especially now that both are seemingly finished with AAA (and possibly Lucha Underground) due to how Vampiro stripped Taya of her title a few months back.
In a recent conference call, GFW’s Karen Jarrett said this when Wrestling Inc.’s Raj Giri asked about their appearances being one-offs.
“No sir. Well I’m hoping it’s not a one-time thing, I’ll put it that way. But no, we are in the process of talking to him and we are trying to see what we can nail down.”
A comic con that Morrison was advertised for over the August 19-20 weekend also sent out word that due to GFW contractual obligations, Morrison had to pull out – the time frame would coincide with the reported Impact tapings dates.
Very sorry to announce that due to a contractural agreement with GFW Impact Wrestling, @TheRealMorrison is unable to attend StocktonCon
